OWL RIDING ON THE MOON

 

Twas on a Starry Starry Night
A loon’s cry summoned me
Into the marsh where cattails glow
And on to sand and sea

 

My gaze was caught in raptured light
A deep blue azure tide
When graciously a wave appeared
To take me on a ride

 

Standing at the water’s edge
An owl’s voice did croon
Looking to this hopeful chant
I saw her riding on the moon
